Getragen wurde die Bewegung anfangs oft von Einzelnen und ihrer Leidenschaft, Vision und religiösen Motivation.20 dieser in der Palliative Care engagierten Frauen und Männer von den Anfängen bis heute wurden auf Initiative des ökumenischen Vereins «Palliative Care und christliche Verantwortung» für den Band interviewt. Die daraus entstandenen Porträts zeichnen die Geschichte der Palliative Care in der Schweiz nach und greifen aktuelle Fragen wie die veränderte Situation in der Langzeitpflege oder die Begleitung Sterbender in der Gesellschaft auf. Freiwillige kommen ebenso zu Wort wie jene, die sich in Kirche und Wissenschaft professionell mit Palliative Care befassen. Die verschiedenen Stimmen regen an, darüber nachzudenken, wie chronisch kranke und sterbende Menschen in christlicher Verantwortung begleitet werden können.
