Nell'imminenza dell'inaugurazione del nuovo ponte, que- sti testi riflettono su ciò che è accaduto, ma anche sul suo signi- ficato politico e metaforico. Quel giorno è crollato un manufatto studiato sui libri di storia dell'architettura come un capolavoro simbolo dell'ottimismo verso il futuro, in una fase storica, il dopoguerra, ricca di architetture simboliche: dal piano Ina-Casa per la ricostruzione dei quartieri alle infrastrutture che hanno modernizzato il paese. Con il crollo tutto è cambiato. «Nella temporalità lenta e quasi accidiosa che ha a lungo caratterizzato la città, il crollo del ponte Morandi ha introdotto elementi di accelerazione - scrive il sociologo Agostino Petrillo - innescan- do anche involontariamente un dibattito che era da un pezzo necessario. Genova si è vista bruscamente obbligata dall'evento a porsi nuovamente degli interrogativi, se non addirittura a ripensarsi radicalmente».
