Dopo aver approvato, il 1Ā° luglio 2020, le modifiche alla Carta costituzionale che gli permettono di rimanere presidente almeno fino al 2036 (se non a vita), il leader della nuova Russia ĆØ ormai chiamato il Ā«Putin eternoĀ». Proprio questa qualifica segna perĆ² il suo declino: non ĆØ piĆ¹ un leader reale, ma un'istituzione codificata e immutabile, un'entitĆ astratta di una Russia che si vuole ridotta all'eterna ripetizione di sĆ© stessa. Le incertezze dell'economia dopo la pandemia di Covid-19, le proteste nelle regioni dell'Estremo Oriente russo e le rivolte nell'Occidente della Ā«Russia BiancaĀ», gettano un'ombra molto preoccupante sui destini del putinismo, a prescindere da come verranno risolte tutte le crisi in corso. L'influsso della sua ideologia, comunque la si voglia definire (sovranismo, nazionalismo religioso, antiglobalismo), ha molte risonanze in tutto il mondo, dall'America del Nord e del Sud all'Europa, dalla Turchia all'India e alla Cina. Dal futuro di Putin e del suo modello possono dipendere tanti altri destini, compreso quello della piccola Italia o del piccolissimo Vaticano, con il suo miliardo di fedeli.
