"Perché non mi dai un bacio?", questa domanda di un bambino che dormiva in una ruota di camion in un misero quartiere di Managua cambiò la vita di Zelinda Roccia, premio Tiziano Terzani 2013 per le Culture di Pace: lasciò il suo lavoro di insegnante e di artista di teatro per vivere con i ragazzi di strada del Nicaragua dove, con i primi quindici, iniziò 25 anni fa il progetto Los Quinchos. Oggi ne ospita più di 200, ma, negli anni, ne sono passati migliaia. Questa è la sua storia, dall'infanzia nel circo di famiglia, ai viaggi da sola tra gli indios Tarahumara, al teatro itinerante, ed è soprattutto la lunga storia dei Quinchos, con le gioie e le tragedie di bambini e bambine, ragazzi e ragazze che non hanno mai conosciuto l'affetto di una famiglia e che vedono in lei la loro mamita.
