Si hay que decir en pocas palabras cuáles fueron los mundos de Clementina, pues básicamente señalo cuatro: la geografía y el arrasamiento del monte; la recuperación lexical y onomatopéyica de sus habitantes, seres solitarios y aislados; los sentimientos y en particular el amor como tema central; la condición femenina. Y en todos, claro, el dolor y la frustración ante un destino que siempre es imbatible, inmodificable.Los relatos de Quenel, y acaso por eso mismo, leídos en estos tiempos de vértigos y ligerezas pueden resultar algo ripiosos. Y es que ella fue la clase de escritora que se detiene en detalles y trabaja, se diría, burilando sus propias morosidades. Ojalá este esfuerzo editorial sirva para consagrar, aunque a destiempo, a una de las más notables escritoras de la Argentina del siglo XX.
