Glimpses of Glory is the second in a three-volume collection of prayers and other resources based on the New Common Worship Lectionary used widely around the world. Written in the Celtic style for which the author is well-known, and linked to the Sunday readings, these prayers and intercessions may be used by congregations for the Prayers of the People, as well as by individuals seeking to supplement their personal devotions.

Father, in love you created us.

Christ, by love you redeemed us.

Spirit, through love you sustain us.

We pray that by the power of your love, that binds you as Three and One, we may give ourselves in joy and love to you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Father, we give you thanks for creation, for the beauty, wonder and order of our universe.

We give thanks that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

We pray for the work of your church in conservation and preservation,

that we may reflect your love for the world.

We pray that the church may give strength to family life and society.

Holy, holy, holy God,

hear us and have mercy.

Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, we give thanks for your love in redemption.

We pray for the emergency services and for relief agencies, for all who risk their lives and give their lives for others.

We pray for all who are seeking to bring healing and peace to our world, all who are working for unity and harmony.

Holy, holy, holy God,

hear us and have mercy.

Holy Spirit of God, we give thanks for the life you breathe into us, for the talents and abilities you give to us.

We give you thanks and pray for our homes, our communities and our places of work.

We ask that you will guide us into ways of justice and peace.

We pray for teachers of the faith, preachers and theologians.

Holy, holy, holy God,

hear us and have mercy.

We pray for all who do not know or love you, O God,

for all who have not become aware of your mystery and wonder,

for all who do not feel or trust in your presence.

We remember doubters and those who despair,

all who suffer through illness, neglect or violence.

We remember, in your presence, friends and loved ones in need, sickness or any other adversity.

Holy, holy, holy God,

hear us and have mercy.

We give thanks for the mystery of the Trinity and seek to enjoy the wonder of Three Persons in One God.

We rejoice that you are our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer, and, as you have made us, you give us life eternal.

We pray for all who have come closer to your threefold presence and enjoy your fellowship.

We pray especially for .....................

THE PEACE

God the Creator provides you with his peace.

Christ the Redeemer gives you his peace.

The Holy Spirit fills you with his peace.

The peace of the Lord be always with you

and also with you.

THE BLESSING

The Father of all enfold you in his love.

Christ the Saviour keep you in life eternal.

The Holy Spirit fill you with his grace.

Lord of majesty and splendour, the King of all creation, from you comes all wholeness, peace and well-being. We come with our needs and in our brokenness, seeking your help and knowing that you alone can make us whole. Come, Lord, and renew us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Holy and ever-loving God, we come before you in love and adoration:

you only are the Lord, you alone are God most high.

We pray for all who have lost their faith, for all who have ceased to worship you, for all who have been led away to chase after things that are not God.

We pray for your whole church and its faithfulness to you:

all who witness to your presence,

all who declare your love,

all who reveal your glory in their lives,

all who go out in mission.

We pray that they may remain strong in their faith.
