El Año Europeo del patrimonio cultural 2018 ha hecho hincapié en el valor del patrimonio cultural para la sociedad, su contribución a la economía, su papel en la diplomacia cultural y la importancia de su salvaguarda para el disfrute de las generaciones futuras. La antedicha iniciativa política del Año Europeo puso en boga un lema «Nuestro patrimonio: donde el pasado se encuentra con el futuro», y esta seña de identidad de nuestras ciudades y territorios ha entrado con fuerza en la agenda de actividades y de las políticas de los países.Las XX Jornadas Internacionales de Patrimonio Industrial que organizó INCUNA con el tema de «Resiliencia, innovación y sostenibilidad» obtuvieron el Sello Europeo del Patrimonio Cultural, un reconocimiento que la Unión Europea, a través del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte de España, concede a iniciativas que contribuyen al logro de los objetivos planteados.
