El estudio de los procesos de nacionalización, esto es, de la difusión social de las identidades nacionales, es uno de los aspectos centrales para el campo de investigación dedicado al nacionalismo. Sin embargo, se trata de un ámbito que cuenta todavía con una relativa escasez de trabajos, especialmente cuando se aborda desde una perspectiva comparada. El presente volumen se dedica al estudio de los procesos de nacionalización en los marcos de los Estados-nación europeos. El caso español es objeto de especial atención, aunque desde una perspectiva comparada con los países de su entorno, lo que permite plantear dudas acerca de la supuesta excepcionalidad del proceso de nacionalización español. El volumen se compone de trece estudios escritos por historiadores procedentes de nueve universidades europeas y españolas.
