In the present era, libraries of engineering colleges and polytechnics are playing vital and active role in imparting education and knowledge to students, staff members and the society nearby. They are working as an information centers where users are getting needed information at right time with the available as well as outside resources. In-service training is specially designed to enhance the competence of librarians and also for other skilled library personnel in dealing with variety of library functions. In the early days the training was not that much necessary, however, the information retrieval processes and automation of libraries compels the formal training, not only for new recruit but also for existing library staff.The development and training of the library professional staff occupies a significant place in the study of motivation. In-service training increase employee's knowledge of the job, promote high moral, aids them to perform effectively and demonstrate ability for future professional growth. The sum of this results in an increment in both quantity and quality of library services. It is hoped that this book shall be a good value addition to any library and information science professionals and shall give a thorough insight on the subject concerned.
