En este trabajo analizamos el papel jugado por el ajuste entre cultura y decisiones estratégicas a través del caso de Caixa Ontinyent, una de las dos cajas de ahorros españolas que fue capaz de sobrevivir durante la crisis económica y financiera de 2008 a 2014. El enfoque geográfico y el arraigo de la empresa en su entorno social, sumados a su singular adaptación a los cambios externos, han sido determinantes a la hora de tomar decisiones que no sólo le han permitido conjurar el desplome de la confianza que ha afectado a tantas entidades financieras, sino también mantener su viabilidad y capacidad de proyección hasta convertirse en la primera caja de ahorros de España. Con este fin desarrollamos un modelo teórico que relaciona el papel que desempeña el ajuste entre la estrategia empresarial y la cultura de una organización en el alcance de la resiliencia organizativa o capacidad de una organización de recuperarse ante una disrupción importante.
