Para contribuir a un mejor conocimiento de una realidad sobre el cambio político en España, el presente volumen recoge aportaciones de distinto carácter sobre las izquierdas en los años setenta. Tras una mirada a los países de la Europa meridional, se aborda el papel y la acción del PSOE, el PCE y la izquierda revolucionaria. Siguen un análisis del movimiento sindical a lo largo de la transición, una visión del particular y complejo panorama de las izquierdas vascas y, cerrando el volumen, tres textos centrados en aspectos específicos de la acción cultural, institucional y movilizadora de las izquierdas en Cataluña.
