In realtà, alcuni giorni prima di quel fatidico disastro uno o più disertori dell'esercito austriaco fornirono i dettagli del piano d'attacco austriaco allo stato maggiore italiano. Ma quelle informazioni non furono prese in considerazione dal generale Luigi Cadorna e dagli altri ufficiali italiani. Parte di quel che accadde dalle 2, 00 della notte del 24 ottobre 1917 è ancora oggi avvolto nel mistero. Lì però c'erano dei testimoni. Tra cui Nina, una ragazzina di 17 anni.
