L'incontro impone a entrambi un mettersi in gioco pericoloso, dove non ci sono difese e lo scambio a livello personale è indispensabile. Non c'è più teoria, ma solo fatti: non c'è più l'ombra della morte, ma solo la sua prepotente presenza. Non esiste più il tempo, ma solo la certezza di averne poco e l'oculatezza di non sprecarlo più.
Non riuscirei più tanto facilmente a ritornare come infermiera in una normale corsia d'ospedale; forse perché, per la prima volta, ho potuto lavorare in un posto dove si è dato il giusto valore al tempo e ho potuto 'essere' infermiera. Con tutta me stessa".
