Descrive le principali preoccupazioni e richieste di Amnesty International ed è una lettura fondamentale per chi prende decisioni politiche, per gli attivisti e per chiunque sia interessato ai diritti umani.
Durante il 2017, i conflitti, le misure di austerità e le calamità naturali hanno creato condizioni di maggiore povertà e insicurezza per milioni di persone, costrette a scappare dalle loro case e a cercare rifugio altrove, all'interno dei loro paesi od oltre i confini nazionali. La discriminazione è rimasta diffusa in tutte le regioni del mondo e in alcuni casi ha avuto conseguenze mortali per le vittime. I governi di tutti gli schieramenti hanno continuato a reprimere la libertà d'espressione, associazione e riunione, anche minacciando e attaccando giornalisti, difensori dei diritti umani e attivisti per l'ambiente.
Ancora una volta, ovunque nel mondo sono emersi il coraggio e la determinazione di milioni di persone che si sono impegnate contro le ingiustizie, per chiedere che le loro voci fossero ascoltate e i loro diritti rispettati. Queste persone hanno contribuito a ottenere giustizia per i crimini del passato e hanno ricordato giorno dopo giorno alle autorità che dovranno rispondere delle loro azioni. C'è ancora tanto da fare ma i progressi su tematiche come i diritti delle persone Lgbti dimostrano quali risultati possiamo raggiungere quando c'impegniamo a favore dei diritti umani.
