Dora Rittmeyer-Iselin war eine der profiliertesten Schweizer Frauen des 20.?Jahrhunderts. Schon dass sie Musikwissenschaft studierte, war aus­sergewöhnlich und auch, dass sie bei der Heirat mit dem Juristen und Politiker Ludwig Rittmeyer erklĂ€rte, sie wolle berufstĂ€tig bleiben. Als eine der ersten Frauen dozierte sie an der Handelshochschule St. Gallen, der heutigen UniversitĂ€t, und publizierte zu verschiedenen musikwissenschaftlichen Themen.Marianne Jehle-Wildberger zeichnet in ihrer Biografie das Bild einer mutigen und politisch wachen Frau: In der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus kĂŒmmerte sie sich - neben den eigenen Söhnen - beim Schweizerischen Hilfswerk fĂŒr Emigrantenkinder um Hunderte jĂŒdischer FlĂŒchtlingskinder. FrĂŒh stieg sie in die Frauenbewegung ein, war PrĂ€sidentin der Frauenzentrale St. Gallen, Mitkuratorin bei der Schweizerischen Frauenausstellung SAFFA?58 und wurde schliesslich sogar PrĂ€sidentin der Dachorganisation der Frauen Europas.
