Nach einer Zeit geringeren Interesses erlebte die Forschung zum Autoritarismus in den letzten Jahren eine Renaissance. Die vorliegende Arbeit führt in die Geschichte des Konstruktes ein und verdeutlicht die aktuelle Relevanz der Autoritarismusforschung. In drei eigenen Studien werden die Bedeutung des Autoritarismus für die Erklärung von ausländerfeindlichen Einstellungen, der Zusammenhang des Autoritarismus mit Verhaltenstendenzen von Lehrkräften in problematischen Unterrichtssituationen sowie die Abhängigkeit des Autoritarismus von einer empfundenen Bedrohung der "Eigengruppe" analysiert. Als Fazit wird ein Modell entwickelt und dargestellt, das traditionelle und moderne Sichtweisen des Autoritarismus integriert.
