Mai 2001, wird der Kunoper, einer der Ă€ltesten Theaterformen Chinas, nach mehr als 20-jĂ€hriger Ruhe wieder gesteigerte Aufmerksamkeit – nun jedoch vom Westen ausgehend – gewidmet. Ein frĂŒher Reaktivierungsversuch fand in den 1980er Jahren in China statt, als die Fachforschung die grundlegende Existenz, sowie Fragen der Überlieferung und Entwicklung der Kunoper verstĂ€rkt thematisierte. Vor dem Hintergrund des Bekenntnisses, die traditionellen Formen zu sichern, ĂŒberlegten Praktiker sowie Wissenschaftler der Ă€lteren und jĂŒngeren Generation, wie die Kunoper fĂŒr die Zukunft neu gestaltet werden könnte. Auf der Basis dieser Auseinandersetzung wird die Verfasserin in dieser Studie die Erneuerung dieser hoch Ă€sthetischen BĂŒhnenkunstform in der Gegenwart untersuchen und grĂŒndlich hinterfragen, ob Tradition und Innovation im Rahmen der weiteren Entwickelung der Kunoper nebeneinander bestehen und sich ergĂ€nzen können.
