Aufgrund der steigenden Schiefergasproduktion in den Vereinigten Staaten werden die dortigen Steamcracker umgebaut, sodass Ethan als Feed verwendet werden kann. Hierdurch sinkt die Ausbeutean 1, 3-Butadien deutlich, wodurch es weltweit zu EngpƤssen der 1, 3-Butadien-Versorgung kommen kann. Um dies zu verhindern, sind alternative Darstellungsmƶglichkeiten notwendig.
