Polish and Poland
Polski (Polish) is sometimes perceived as an obscure język (language), so you may be surprised to learn that it is the vehicle of great works of literature and the native tongue of renowned explorers, scientists and artists. It is also the pride of Polacy (Poles), and the testament to their will for survival. Located in central Europe, Polska (Poland) is a land shaped over the ages both geologically and historically by conflict. At times its kingdom stretched from the Morze Bałtyckie (Baltic Sea) to the Morze Czarne (Black Sea), its tolerance and liberal laws attracting merchants and artists from all over Europe. By 1795 Poland was divided up and parcelled out to other countries, then further torn during the World Wars. Yet now it is on the rise again, independent, with an emergent market economy, steady growth and modernization. Today tourists flock to the country, attracted by the wysokie góry (high mountains) and stunning krajobraz (scenery).
