Large numbers of gliders stand parked in long lines at Aldermaston airfield on the morning of September 17, the first day of Operation ‘Market-Garden’. The American Waco gliders (in middle distance and on the far right) will be used to fly elements of the 101st Airborne Division to Holland on D+1 and D+2.
