Adrien Candiard (Parigi 1982), dopo essersi dedicato alla politica, nel 2006 è entrato nell’Ordine domenicano. Oggi risiede al Cairo, dove è membro dell’Institut dominicain d’études orientales (Ideo). Si occupa di islam e ha scritto diversi saggi di spiritualità. Grazie a questo libro ha vinto il «Prix de la liberté intérieure». Con Emi ha pubblicato Pierre e Mohamed. Algeria, due martiri dell’amicizia (2018) e Comprendere l’islam. O meglio, perché non ci capiamo niente (2019). Nel 2017 ha conseguito il «Prix des libraires religieux» per il volume Veilleur, où en est la nuit?, che Emi pubblicherà nel 2021. Ha scritto anche l’opera teatrale Le cinquième évangile, insignita del «Prix Jacques Hamel».
