Expressive Messaging
New in iOS 10, iMessages can be enhanced with bubble effects, invisible ink, full-screen effects, handwriting, Digital Touch, apps, stickers, and more. Go to Settings > Messages and set iMessage to on.
To send a Tapback quick response:
Double-tap an incoming message to show the Tapback options.
Tap a response to show what you’re thinking.
To send an animated message:
Type a message, then tap and hold
. The Send with effect screen appears. Select Bubble or Screen to see the different effect options. The Bubble options (tap an option to preview it) are Slam, Loud, Gentle, and InvisibleInk. The Screen options are Balloons, Confetti, Lasers, Fireworks, and Shooting Star.
Choose an effect, and tap to
send.
NOTE: If this feature doesn’t work at first, go to Settings > General > Accessibility and ensure ReduceMotion is set to off.
To send a handwritten message:
When composing a message, turn your device to landscape orientation.
OR
If already using landscape orientation, tap the
key.
Use one of the prewritten messages, or use your finger to write your own. If you need more room for your message, use the
arrow to scroll.
NOTE: Handwritten messages you send are saved at the bottom of the handwriting screen so that you can use them again.
To access iMessage apps:
Open a conversation or start a new message.
Tap

first) and tap

Tap Store to launch the iMessage app store.
Tap Manage at the top to manage your iMessage apps.
Tap Done to exit the iMessage app store.
Send Photos & VideosTo quickly take a photo within Messages:

first) and frame your shot in the viewfinder that opens on the bottom left half of the screen.
