LOS ALTOS DE CHIAPAS: UN CRISOL PLURICULTURAL
En este anexo se da cuenta de la elección de la región de estudio mencionando algunos puntos importantes a considerar en esta investigación. En el trabajo centramos nuestra atención en los nuevos escenarios surgidos a partir de la articulación entre el modo de producción no capitalista con el modo de producción capitalista, considerando que en el modelo de articulación la constante sigue siendo el “rezago económico” de las comunidades indígenas. De acuerdo con Castellanos (1988), la región de Los Altos no es homogénea ni social, económica, política y culturalmente, y se advierten diferentes grados de inserción del capitalismo al interior de los municipios indígenas.
Chiapas es uno de los estados con mayor riqueza natural y con mayor atraso económico respecto al resto del país, lo cual representa una contradicción inherente en la economía mexicana. La región de Los Altos tiene una estructura económica heterogénea, con zonas que presentan diferentes niveles de desarrollo económico. De acuerdo con Valenzuela (2011), la heterogeneidad estructural de Chiapas se explica a través de cuatro puntos: a) la coexistencia de distintos modos de producción, b) diversos regímenes de producción, c) formas socioeconómicas heterogéneas que interactúan entre sí y que suelen estar más o menos sometidas a la lógica del capital y d) la ausencia de un sector capitalista industrial fuerte y dinámico (Va...
