Eine nachhaltige touristische Entwicklung, die den Schutz der Ressourcen mit einer wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung unter Einbeziehung der Bevölkerung vor Ort anstrebt, stellt eine Möglichkeit zur ErfĂŒllung der Ziele und Funktionen dar.Quantifizierbare Daten zur wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung des Naturtourismus in BiosphĂ€renreservaten sowie zu Besucherstruktur und Nachfrage sind entscheidende Grundlagen fĂŒr eine langfristige Inwertsetzung der Gebiete. Der vorliegende Band versucht daher zunĂ€chst anhand von sechs Fallbeispielen, den Stellenwert des Tourismus in deutschen BiosphĂ€renreservaten fĂŒr die jeweilige regionale Wirtschaftzu bestimmen. Mittels einer Hochrechnung wird abgeschĂ€tzt, wie sich die Situation fĂŒr Bio sphĂ€renreservate deutschlandweit darstellt. Die Resultate machen deutlich, dass der mit BiosphĂ€renreservaten verbundene Tourismus durchaus einen beachtlichen wirtschaftlichen Beitrag fĂŒr die Regionalwirtschaft leistet. BiosphĂ€renreservate in Deutschland besitzen also reelle Chancen, langfristig zu erfolgreichen Destinationen im deutschen Tourismusmarkt zu werden.Zum anderen bieten die Resultate der vorliegenden Studie eine wichtige Grundlage, um eine höhere Akzeptanz und die Entwicklung von Strategien fĂŒr eine nachhaltige Entwicklung in den deutschen BiosphĂ€renreservaten zu erreichen.
