Hann fékk inngöngu í tónlistarháskóla fyrir 10 ára afmælið sitt og segja má að logi ferils hans hafi brunnið hratt og stutt. Hann gifti sig ungur þrátt fyrir mótmæli tengdafjölskyldunnar og átti einn son. Serían fjallar um helstu tónsnillinga allt frá árunum 1525-1907. Hún er byggð á skrifum Theodórs Árnasonar sem var íslenskur tónlistarmaður. Fjallað er um líf tónskálda og verk þeirra. Bókin kom fyrst út árið 1966.

R aunar hafði hann verið skírður Alexander César Leopold, en gamall frændi hans einn, sem miklar mætur hafði á hinum herskáa dýrðlingi, heilögum Georg, kom því einhvernveginn til leiðar, að við drenginn festist það nafn. Gleymdust svo skírnarnöfnin, og var hann jafnan nefndur Georges síðan.
