Sie ist eine der Pionierinnen der österreichischen Umweltbewegung. Im Rückblick auf fast neun Jahrzehnte ihres Lebens erzählt Freda Meissner-Blau über wichtige Puzzleteile ihres Lebens, von wesentlichen Um- und von Aufbrüchen. Sie verbrachte ihre Kindheit zunächst in Nordböhmen, erlebte in Linz und Wien die katholisch geprägte Diktatur und den Nationalsozialismus. Die Flucht in den letzten Kriegstagen führte sie nach Deutschland, Italien und England, später lebte sie in Afrika und Frankreich. Es ist das Leben selbst und das Erleben der Ausbeutung von Natur und Menschen, die sie zu einem politisch denkenden und handelnden Menschen machten. Ihr unbeugsamer Überlebenswille, auch mit einem zweiten Herzen, ließ sie die Sensibilität bewahren, gerade auch in der Politik. Die Geschichte und Geschichten dieser starken Frau sind Hoffnung und Ermutigung: "Ich bin genau so rebellisch, wie ich war, mir liegt immer noch an der Änderung des Unerträglichen."
