The shaggy, bobtailed Old English Sheepdog was the drover's dog of the west of England, bred to move sheep and cattle to market. The Old English Sheepdog gathers the scattered early literature of the breed – its history, description, character and management – into a single readable volume.

These collected accounts range across the Old English Sheepdog's history and origins, its description and character, and the practical business of rearing, breeding and showing it, assembled from the works of the fanciers and authorities who knew the breed best.

A rewarding companion for Old English Sheepdog enthusiasts and breed historians alike, this modern edition keeps a wealth of early material in print and within easy reach.

This edition features:

• Brings the breed's foundational writers together in one collection.
• Covers the breed's history, origins, description and character.
• Includes period guidance on breeding, rearing and showing.
