About this book
This book consists of an introduction to the various approaches (schools) and the wide range of concepts that comprise TA. It reviews how TA has developed over the years, how the different approaches reflect the same underlying philosophy of TA, and how this impacts upon practice. The intention is to enable practitioners to understand how concepts interlink, to avoid common misunderstandings, to select concepts for specific interventions, and to evaluate their choices. This means also using TA concepts to analyse their own behaviour and that of their clients, and being able to discuss professional dynamics with other professionals. Knowing the history also reinforces our professional identity within the TA community.
Julie Hay has also made this book available on her website for free, as a downloadable PDF.
