Dieses Übungsbuch ist entstanden in einem experimentellen Berufs-sprachkurs für Maler. Dabei wurde die Vorbereitung auf den Beruf des Malers kombiniert mit einem Sprachunterricht, denn die Schüler (es gab keine Schülerinnen) hatten schwache Leistungen im Deutschen (unter Niveau A2, auch unter A1). Im sprachlichen Teil wurden die Deutsch-Kenntnisse verbessert, wobei neben der beruflichen zunächst die allgemeinsprachliche Kompetenz gefördert wurde. Aus diesem Grund sind den beruflichen Kapiteln einige einleitende Übungen vorangestellt.Der berufsbezogene Teil wurde von einem Malermeister und der sprachliche Teil von einem "Sprachmeister" unterrichtet. Beide Lehrer waren gleichzeitig im Unterrichtsraum bzw. in der Lehrwerkstatt, um sich gegenseitig zu unterstützen und die jeweiligen Themen zu ergänzen.
