Este libro, tercero en la serie de Perspectivas Migratorias del CIDE-MIG (Programa Interdisciplinario en Estudios Migratorios del CIDE), analiza, desde una perspectiva académica, los diferentes ángulos de los derechos políticos de los mexicanos en el exterior, muy particularmente el ejercicio del voto de los mexicanos residentes en el extranjero (VMRE) a la luz de las dos experiencias vividas en las elecciones presidenciales de 2006 y 2012. El objetivo central del volumen es contar con una investigación académica integral del VMRE que analice de manera comparativa, jurídica, cuantitativa y cualitativa el ejercicio de este derecho político, para proponer soluciones y alternativas que conduzcan a una simplificación de los procedimientos electorales y permitan una mayor participación política de los mexicanos.
