El corte histórico se basa en las fechas de aparición de la revista Barandal y de conclusión de Taller, proyectos que sirvieron como punto de arranque, consolidación y ruptura del Grupo Taller. De aquella turba de muchachos con aspiraciones literarias y revolucionarias emergieron las figuras de Octavio Paz, Efraín Huerta y José Revueltas. A la triada debe agregarse una treintena de nombres, como Alberto Quintero, Arnulfo Martínez Lavalle y Savador Toscano, entre otros. Si el acercamiento a tan importantes figuras resulta sugestivo desde cualquier perspectiva, la aproximación a sus priemros años de labor artística y política resulta en sí misma una oporunidad para conocer la gestión de estas voces literarias tan importantes como atractivas, tan radicales como conciliatorias en la tradición litararia nacional.
