Este libro analiza la informalidad laboral y su problemática social en el sector comercial en la zona de la frontera Tulcán-Ipiales. Su objetivo es obtener información sobre este sector importante de la región y su incidencia en la zona en estudio. Para ello, se elaboraron encuestas y entrevistas dirigidas a comerciantes de las dos ciudades en relación con edad inicial de trabajo, estudios realizados, personas que están bajo su responsabilidad, apoyo gubernamental, entre otros. Los resultados demuestran la vulnerabilidad social que se vive en los sectores fronterizos, lo que requiere de un establecimiento de agenda y metas comunes que permitan tener niveles de equidad territorial para un mejoramiento en las condiciones de igualdad social, hegemonía de clases, mejor mercado de trabajo y preparación del capital humano para reducir la pobreza y marginalidad económica y comercial en la frontera.
