En el año 1927 Albert Londres viajó de incógnito a la Argentina para llevar adelante una investigación sobre la trata de blancas. El camino de Buenos Aires, fruto de esa investigación, es mucho más que una crónica ocurrente o el relato de un viaje por el "paraíso de los rufianes": constituye un testimonio polémico sobre la Argentina y un precioso documento sobre el circuito internacional del hampa.Albert Londres nació en 1884, en Vichy, y comenzó su carrera como periodista en los años previos a la Primera Guerra Mundial. Así, se convirtió en corresponsal de guerra hasta el fin de los combates. Luego continuó viajando por el mundo y cubrió múltiples acontecimientos de la historia del siglo XX. Es considerado uno de los máximos precursores franceses del periodismo de investigación. Murió el 16 de mayo de 1932 en el incendio del barco Philippar.
