Politik als Beruf war der zweite Vortrag im Rahmen einer Vortragsreihe "Geistige Arbeit als Beruf", den Max Weber am 28. Januar 1919 vor dem "Freistudentischen Bund. Landesverband Bayern" in der Münchner Buchhandlung Steinicke gehalten hat – der erste war Wissenschaft als Beruf, den er am 7. November 1917 hielt. Der erheblich erweiterte Text dieses Vortrags wurde im Juli 1919 veröffentlicht. Politik als Beruf ist zu einem Klassiker der Politikwissenschaft geworden. Maximilian "Max" Carl Emil Weber (* 21. April 1864 in Erfurt; † 14. Juni 1920 in München) war ein deutscher Soziologe und Nationalökonom. Obwohl seiner Ausbildung nach Jurist, gilt er als einer der Klassiker der Soziologie sowie der gesamten Kultur-, Sozial- und Geschichtswissenschaften.
