Gan ddefnyddio'r wasg gyfnodol fel sail, cyflwynir trafodaeth wreiddiol am y modd y syniai'r Cymry Americanaidd am gaethwasiaeth, un o faterion mwyaf dyrys eu gwlad fabwysiedig, a hynny yng nghyd-destun disgwrs Feiblaidd. Asesir y modd y gwnaeth syniadaeth grefyddol a chyfeiriadaeth Feiblaidd dreiddio'r erthyglau, yr ysgrifau, y darnau o farddoniaeth a'r rhyddiaith greadigol a gyhoeddwyd yng nghyfnodolion Cymraeg yr Unol Daleithiau, gan gynnig mewnwelediad unigryw i'r farn gyhoeddus Gymraeg a Chymreig-Americanaidd am gaethwasiaeth yn y bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg.
