A partir de um depoimento para a tese de doutorado sobre a instituição do conceito de patrimônio cultural no Brasil com a Constituição de 1988, o diálogo entre o historiador Yussef Campos e o líder indígena Ailton Krenak ampliou-se para questionamentos mais profundos sobre a vida do planeta, e resultou neste livro composto por três textos que apresentam um enfrentamento à monocultura simbólica que as culturas hegemônicas tentam impor ao ser humano e ao planeta.O primeiro texto é uma entrevista feita por Yussef Campos com Ailton Krenak em 2013, para a sua tese de douramento; o segundo é a transcrição de uma fala de Krenak na Universidade Federal de Goiás, após a tragédia do estouro da barragem da Samarco, em Mariana; e o último é um ensaio de Campos que parte do gesto de guerra e luto de Krenak ao pintar o rosto de jenipapo diante do Congresso Nacional, como forma de protesto às deturpações das reivindicações definidas em consulta pública durante a Constituinte.
