Was machen junge Menschen in der Freizeit? Nach welchen Werthaltungen orientieren sie sich und welche Erwartungen haben sie für ihre Zukunft? Wovor haben sie Angst? Was bedeutet ihnen Religion und Politik? Was ist jungen Menschen in der Landwirtschaft wichtig und wie wollen künftige Hofnachfolgerinnen und Hofnachfolger ihre Betriebe ausrichten? Diese und weitere Fragen wurden im Rahmen einer österreichweiten Jugendstudie erörtert, wobei die Hochschule für Agrar- und Umweltpädagogik die Antworten aus dem agrarischen Schulwesen erfasste und auswertete. Diese Sonderausgabe geht daher besonders der Frage nach, ob die Jugend vom Land anders tickt als der Durchschnitt in Österreich. Auch wird neben anderen soziodemografischen Merkmalen speziell erhoben, ob junge Menschen mit der Absicht zur Hofnachfolge anders denken als Jugendliche aller Schultypen.
