E inesorabili saranno l'Impero e la Repubblica verso chi si è reso colpevole del reato di tradimento contro il suo signore e contro la sua patria. Si inscrive nel nome dei Doria e dei Fieschi e si compie sul palcoscenico genovese l'atto che, incidendo profondamente nel cuore del grande scontro tra l'Impero spagnolo e la Corona francese, diventerà fin da subito un evento memorabile.
