Un universo che va messo in rapporto con le coordinate storico-culturali e con il sistema drammatico del Seicento, restituendogli al tempo stesso il respiro moderno e anticipatore che lo anima in tante sue espressioni; la scommessa di fondo del volume è infatti quella di strappare il teatro di Calderón alla visione parziale, spesso ideologicamente tendenziosa e filologicamente inesatta, che ancora ne ostacola una fruizione libera da pregiudizi, capace di apprezzarne al meglio la bellezza e le sfumature.
