In bilico tra Medioevo e primo Umanesimo, Petrarca sconta nella sua scrittura tutte le contraddizioni di un'età di passaggio, della quale ci ha lasciato, nelle sue "sudate" e travagliate carte, una testimonianza altissima e sofferta.
