Dickers Werk weist eine beeindruckende Bandbreite an Medien und Genres der bildenden und angewandten Kunst auf. Geprägt vom Studium an der Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule, der Itten-Privatschule und am Weimarer Bauhaus, arbeitete sie als Malerin, Bühnenbildnerin, Architektin, Designerin in Wien und Berlin, im Exil und als Deportierte.

Das Buch erschließt die Heterogenität von Dickers Werk, rekonstruiert künstlerische Strategien sowie Bezüge auf ästhetische und politische Diskurse der 1920er- bis 1940er-Jahre und dokumentiert erstmals ihre Werke in der Sammlung der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien.
