Die häufigen Bezugnahmen Spencer-Browns auf den Daodejin, ein Text, der dem Weisen Lao Ze zugeschrieben wird, lassen darauf schließen, dass zwischen dem altbabylonischen Denken und dessen Mathematik fast völlige Entsprechung herrschte.Das Anliegen des Strukturvergleichs beschränkt sich darauf, die beiden Texte Schritt für Schritt sich selbst wechselseitig interpretieren zu lassen.
