About this book

Mae'r llyfr hwn yn dathlu bywyd a gwaith rhai mathemategwyr a aned yng Nghymru, ac eraill a gyflawnodd eu gwaith yng Nghymru, gan gyfoethogi ein hanes a'n diwylliant fel gwlad. Pan gyfansoddodd Evan James a'i fab James James yr anthem genedlaethol ym 1856, roedd Cymru ym merw y chwyldro diwydiannol. Roedd mynd mawr ar ddatblygiadau mewn gwyddoniaeth a thechnoleg, gyda chymdeithasau gwyddonol lleol yn ymddangos ar hyd a lled y wlad. Erbyn 1859, roedd Charles Darwin wedi cyhoeddi On the Origin of Species, ac un o effeithiau ei syniadau newydd oedd i greu tensiynau rhwng crefydd a gwyddoniaeth, gan ddylanwadu ar ddehongliad Cymry'r cyfnod o natur eu Cymreictod. Erbyn diwedd y ganrif, roedd y dehongliad hwnnw wedi culhau i gynnwys barddoniaeth, cerddoriaeth a chrefydd, ar draul bron i bopeth arall. Yn dilyn poblogrwydd ei gyfrol Mae Pawb yn Cyfrif, mae'r awdur yma'n defnyddio'r un arddull wrth greu llyfr newydd sy'n fwynhad i'w ddarllen, gan ddangos inni ar yr un pryd fod y rhod wedi troi.
