Die Autoren geben eine biblische und theologische Grundlegung in Seelsorge und eine psychologische Grundlegung in Trauer. In Kapiteln zu Bestattung, Weisheit und Resilienz, Ritualen, Schuld in der Trauer und Hoffnungs- und Trostbildern werden Aspekte von Trauerseelsorge nahegebracht. Eines der Hauptanliegen dieses Buches ist, seelsorgliche Kompetenzen für die Trauerseelsorge zu vermitteln und zu ermutigen, den Transzendenz- und Gottesbezug in die Beziehung einzubringen.
