Kapas av britterna och torpederas av tyskarna. Han tvingas ro fem dygn i livbåt. Mönstrar på s/s Dana av Haugesund, sedan s/s Elfi, också norsk. Hon sänkts, han räddar sig på en livflotte. En månad senare får han åter rädda sig i livbåt: norska s/s Adine torpederas.Efter tjugo år skrev sjökapten Carl-Otto Claesson Mina pojkår, minnen från idyllisk barndom och ungdomsår i krig.I tillägget "Ung sjöman med kurs mot sjökaptensexamen" beskriver hans son, författaren Göran C-O Claesson, sin fars familje- och uppväxtmiljö på Bohus-Malmön och hur boken kom till.
