Oggi, invece, la cosiddetta 'cancel culture' punta sempre piú spesso il dito contro gli antichi, accusandoli di complicità nei crimini perpetrati dall'Occidente – dal colonialismo all'emarginazione femminile fino alla supremazia dei "bianchi" – e chiedendo la rimozione dei testi greci e latini dai programmi di scuole e università, dai cataloghi delle case editrici, dall'immaginario stesso delle nostre società. Una deriva pericolosa e inquietante, che rischia di eliminare uno degli interlocutori fondamentali della nostra tradizione culturale e di promuovere un nuovo conformismo, fondato sulla censura di qualsiasi opinione dissenziente.
