PERSONAL HEALTH COURSES FOR OLDER PEOPLE IN DRC
A look at social protection for seniors

About This Book
Although today the transformation of the age structure is not yet perceptible or not too perceptible in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the World Health Organization estimates that by 2050 the number of elderly people should increase considerably. This increase should be accompanied by an increase in their need for social protection and health care. Based on qualitative data and a literature review, this work takes stock of social policies in support of the elderly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in order to highlight the gaps, issues and underlying challenges. At the end of this study, it emerges that social protection is not yet a priority in public policies and that the existing policies for the care of the elderly are insufficient and others are inadequate. Moreover, the will and determination of all the actors brought together in a very concise organizational framework would make it possible to set up a strong system of support for seniors' initiatives.
