Essa obra se propõe a analisar a situação do sistema de justiça criminal brasileiro e a crise da pena de prisão, procurando abordar, no contexto de respostas mais céleres e eficientes à persecução penal, os instrumentos previstos na legislação que conferem primazia ao consenso na resolução dos conflitos penais, adotando sanções alternativas à privação da liberdade, a exemplo da justiça restaurativa. Nesse sentido, através de pesquisa qualitativa, faz um levantamento bibliográfico e documental, objetivando apresentar os benefícios e fundamentos dos métodos restaurativos e defender a normatização do instituto no âmbito processual penal. Por fim, conclui que o paradigma restaurativo e consensual oferece maiores possibilidades de uma efetiva resolução pacífica dos conflitos, ao inserir os envolvidos e a comunidade em um ambiente de diálogo e aproximação com vistas ao entendimento duradouro.
