E mais: o que revelam as suas engrenagens na conformação dessa política pública?"Socioeducação": colocando o conceito entre aspas tem por objetivo central contribuir para o preenchimento de uma lacuna existente no campo da Socieducação, no que diz respeito ao próprio conceito, desde uma perspectiva crítica. Nesse sentido, o estudo realizado objetivou analisar o quadro histórico-institucional em que se produz o Sistema Socioeducativo — destinado a adolescentes a quem se atribui autoria de ato infracional — problematizando o conceito de "socioeducação" e sua função político-social. Para tanto, a autora utilizou o método dialético de compreensão da realidade e a criminologia crítica como ferramentas de análise e aporte teórico. Os resultados obtidos com a pesquisa demonstraram que a função político-social da "socioeducação" desdobra-se em duas (sub)funções que se complementam: a função mistificadora da (re)educação; e a função — concreta, mas implícita — de contenção e gestão das vidas matáveis. Por transpor a aparência e, assim, buscar as raízes do conceito de socioeducação, este livro torna-se um potente instrumento para inspirar o trabalho de profissionais que atuam na execução de medidas socioeducativas e áreas afins que queiram ultrapassar os limites dos "manuais técnicos".
