A partir de esta convicción y admitiendo la ausencia de criterios para un debate, cabe preguntarse: ¿en qué medida la reciente producción historiográfica sobre los territorios nacionales abre un nuevo objeto de estudio?; ¿hasta qué punto las investigaciones sobre los Territorios revelan algo más que el interés por un campo temático marginal en la historiografía nacional?; ¿acaso estas pesquisas aportan nuevas claves de lectura o significan una aproximación que refleja la mera exportación de discusiones, enfoques y cuestiones del devenir histórico de las regiones centrales a los espacios periféricos?
